Maya Ravensong is an Artist working in many different mediums. From dance, to writing, to paintings on canvas, silk and on the body, Maya creates healing art for herself and others.

Maya's art is a mix of strange, beautiful, sometimes humorous or wyrd forms- all of which can bring healing. She paints mostly with her fingers, though she does use other tools as well. She sometimes uses a magnifying glass to get into such small detail that, to some, it would seem pointless- but her, is completely the point. Maya has published one book “BodyArt Therapy” and is currently working on a tome where she explains how to become one with the divine and heal through dance.

Maya attends different events throughout the year. You can find a list of those events here

I am Maya Ravensong and welcome to my web presence. There are links to the various aspects of my healing arts listed on the left side. Feel free to look around.

About Me

I was born in Northern CA, but I attended schools all across the US and Japan. Japan is where I fell in love with silk and a type of dyeing called shibori. The love of silk and silk dyeing led me to dance, for which I am eternally grateful.

While my artist name is Maya Ravensong, my name with which I am a LMT in NE and IA is Rev. Julia Lawrence. For now, it is my legal name.

As a mostly self-taught artist working in many mediums from silk hand dye-painting, shibori, body art, oil and acrylic painting, photography, to digital art my work “comes from the heart” no matter the medium I use. I started painting with acrylics and oil in my early 20’s when my father-in-law Russell Lawrence taught me about the Bob Ross method. Silk dying and henna started in my late 20’s as rediscovered silk and shibori. My images can evoke strong emotions that run the gambit from peaceful to disturbing, often with a spiritual facet reflecting my journey through a concept known as Wyrd. There are also images/words and things hidden within and between the brush strokes.

The artist Brian Froud has influenced my oil and acrylic paintings though a wise woman and dear friend, Deborah Usher, influenced and taught me more including how to See and capture what I see in paint so other can also See. I hide things in my paintings just for those special people who really SEE and find joy in discovery.

As an LMT I am licensed in NE and IA.

I work out of my home office. To book a session with me call 712 326 6002. You can text that number or email me.

Annual Events

Starting in May, my outdoor events gets kicked off each year when I merchant at the annual Heartland Pagan Festival put on by Heartland Spiritual Alliance at Camp Gaea Retreat in KS. It is one of the most spiritual retreats out there that and has been running annually for almost 30 years. You can find me, as always, under the merchant name Wyrd Sistrs.

"Heartland Spiritual Alliance is an organization, which is dedicated to promoting the appreciation and acceptance of a variety of alternative religions and philosophies. HSA encourages participation in educational programs and activities; most of which deal with the various nature oriented or nature connected religions of the world, the similarities within all religions and the respectful free exchange of spiritual beliefs. We strive to maintain a well organized, dynamic and smooth running organization within an atmosphere, which allows people of all religious traditions to coexist peacefully. One of our goals is to consistently host a Festival, which promotes personal and spiritual growth and leaves a living legacy for the next generation."

In September I end my outdoor events while attending the annual Gaea Goddess Gathering again at Camp Gaea Retreat in KS. This is the best women's festival I have ever attended, with workshops, rituals, guest speakers, and a weekend concert. Each year a different Goddess is honored and a temple is erected to her for the duration of the festival. Empowering, enchanting and fun!

"Gaea Goddess Gathering (GGG) is a festival for all women. One of he founding mothers, Carrie Moonstar, along with several other women, started GGG in 1997 as a way to connect with the divine Feminine. The festival has evolved into a wonderful 3-day women's spirituality event focusing on the celebration of the Goddess and empowering women."

These are the only two events you will find me at every year- rain or shine. Other events change from year to year, so check the Calendar.
